Card Game brainstorming and initial ideas
This module required us to create a card game using the free CCG Toolkit on Unreal Marketplace, while also challenging our ability to work together as a team in order to create a proper, playable experience for the consumers. Our team consists of 3 members. We documented every step we took in making PURGATORY, our card game, from the brainstorming phase to the final product.
We wanted to keep our concept simple, while also encouraging the players to come up with their own tactics and strategies in order to win. Our theme is represented by the fight between Heaven and Hell. While we didn't keep most of the religious aspects of it, we've mostly drawn inspiration from "Dante's Inferno". The story of PURGATORY is the following: the 2 players' fates depend on a last card game in the purgatory, where a gatekeeper gives each of them a specific deck randomly, either Heaven or Hell themed, and the gates of Heaven will open to welcome the winner.

Game Pitch
First step forward in game production, after most of the brainstorming is done, is selling the idea with a game pitch, briefly explaining what we intend to do and offer reference pictures to support our ideas and concepts.

Cards stats and mana breakdown
Personally, I feel coming up with the cards was one of the biggest obstacles my team had to go through for this project. From our initial ideas to the final game, we've had 6 versions of our cards, abilities and mana breakdown for each deck. Below you can find the final spreadsheet:
Peer Review
The peer review was another vital step in our development progress. Our fellow classmates completed our form, answered our questions about the game and gave us feedback on the game alpha they played, which we took in consideration in the rest of our design and development process.
