Intro to ZBrush
For this module we had to get accustomed to digital sculpting and ZBrush, so as a first exercise we had to sculpt a basic head at a low resolution level. We learned how to use dynamesh, useful tools such as the move tool, alphas, masks and lasso tools.
The reference picture used as a guide for the basic shape of the head was taken from the 3D.sk website. Other details such as the nose and general lips shape was created from my imagination. As I was getting used to the program, I tried to turn my 2D art style into a 3D one. In future I will focus on both cartoony and realistic sculpts.

As we keep practicing with ZBrush and further develop the human head, we learn to use tools such as the clay tool, DamStandard and hPolish brushes to add more detail and depht to the face, but also the rake brush to give the impression of hair until we're able to add even more details.
Week 2 - The Nose
For the nose I have used tools such as the move brush, clay, dam standard, h polish and clip rectangle in order to cut the uneccessary parts from the sphere I started with.

Week 3 - The Mouth

ZSpheres

For this exercise I gave the default ZBrush head horns and wings growing out of him using the ZSpheres.

Assignment 2 - Villain
For this assignment I decided to sculpt Darth Talon, a Sith from the Star Wars comics and games. Below are the reference pictures I used.
I sculpted the head tails using ZSpheres. Once I was happy with the finished sculpt I started polypainting it in ZBrush using a spray brush and skin material to create the skin texture, free hand tool to draw the tattos by hand, and painted the eye texture in photoshop. For the metal accessories I used metal materials in ZBrush and Maya respectively. Below you can see some progress on how my sculpt was made.
